Personal Training Programs

Congratulations on taking the first step toward a better you! Here’s how to get started with personal training:

  1. First, complete a new client packet.
  2. Bring your completed packet to the SRC front desk (where you can also purchase your initial consultation).
  3. A personal trainer will contact you within one week to schedule your initial consultation. You and your trainer will go over your health history and current fitness/nutrition habits. You will complete a health screening and a body composition/fitness assessment in order to set a baseline for your program.
  4. You and your personal trainer will choose an ideal training session package. 
  5. Your training sessions will start! Training sessions take place at the SRC.

Bring a friend and save! Small group training is a great way to get the motivation and accountability of personal training, but in a fun group setting and at a lower price. Plus, studies show that training with others makes you work even harder. Our certified personal trainers provide custom program design and safety modifications for each group member.

If you are a UCR faculty/staff member who has experienced a worksite injury, you may be eligible for WorkStrong. This UC system-wide initiative allows you to improve your health with the help of experts, at no cost to you.

Your customized program may include:

  • Fitness and rehabilitation training
  • Nutrition and weight management counseling
  • Life balance and stress management services
  • Chronic condition(s) management
  • Workplace safety assessments

Participation Policy
You must have a valid UCR ID or current Student Recreation Center membership to obtain personal training.

Clothing Policy
You must wear appropriate workout clothing and nonmarking shoes. No jeans please.

Initial Consultation Policy
Once an initial consultation or session package has been purchased and all forms are complete, the assigned personal trainer will contact you within one week from the date of registration. After three consecutive attempts to schedule a consultation or session with no response from the client, the personal training fee/package will be considered null and void.

Late Policy
You are responsible for being on time for your appointment. Your trainer is only required to wait 10 minutes. If your session begins late, it will only last until the end of the hour that the session was scheduled.

Cancellation Policy
Clients must notify their trainer at least 24 hours in advance to reschedule an appointment. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of the session. There will be NO REFUNDS and NO EXCEPTIONS. Your trainer is also responsible for giving 24-hour notice if they need to cancel or reschedule.

Remaining Sessions Policy
All sessions must be used by the end of the fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). After three consecutive attempts to schedule remaining sessions without a response from the client, all remaining sessions will be considered null and void. At this point the client will no longer be able to access these sessions (regardless of how many are left).

You are required to purchase sessions before you schedule or use them. If you have used all of your sessions and want to continue to be trained, you must purchase more sessions.

There are NO REFUNDS for sessions purchased.

Austin Shear

Education/Certifications: ACE Certified Personal Trainer, American Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED

Specialty: Strength Training, Bodybuilding, Sports Performance, Weight Loss.

Philosophy: Invest in your health, our bodies are incredible organisms that need to be taken care of. Fitness is more than just looking good, it’s also about feeling good on both the inside and outside. I like to incorporate fun into fitness with unique exercises and programs. Fitness shouldn’t hinder your life, it should enhance it.





Daniel Long

Education/Certifications: NASM Certified Personal Trainer, American Heart Association CPR and AED

Specialty: Strength Training, Sports Performance, Bodybuilding, Weight Loss, Flexibility and Mobility.

Philosophy: I want to help you become the happiest and healthiest version of yourself. I will help guide you to making fitness enjoyable and a positive addition to your life. I will also help you push past your limits mentally and physically in order to take you to the next level.





Michelle “Michee” Driotez

Education/Certifications: CrossFit Level 1 Trainer, American Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED certified.

Specialty: Olympic weightlifting, Strength and weight training, sports specific training, weight loss, stamina/endurance.

Philosophy: Patience and persistence. Be patient during the process, for results do not happen overnight. Be persistent and you will receive results. All it takes is all you’ve got.



Sherry Sereg

Education/Certifications: AFAA Personal Trainer, AFAA Group Fitness, W.I.T.S. Personal Trainer, Integrative Nutrition "Health Coach", 2nd Degree Black Belt.

Specialty: Working with clients who want to become Fit "healthy" and don't know were to start and working with clients who are Fit "healthy" and ready for the next challenge! Through enthusiasm, encouragement and the love of Fitness TOGETHER helping clients reach their fitness endeavors!

Philosophy: If your mind can believe your body can achieve!





Justin Avellan

Education/Certifications: B.S in Biology, Former Collegiate Cross Country and Track & Field runner, ACE personal trainer certification. American Red Cross CPR/AED certification.

Specialty: Running programs, sport’s performance, strength training, and functional fitness.

Philosophy: Using the scientific method to create awesome workout routines that can benefit everyone regardless of fitness experience.



David Popko

Education/Certifications: AAFA certified Personal Trainer and Group Exercise Instructor, UCanRow2 certified Rowing Instructor, NSC CPR and First Aid certified, M.Sc. Entomology, B.Sc. Biological Sciences, A.Sc. Respiratory Therapy

Specialty: swimming, martial arts, rowing, cycling, yoga, group exercise.

Philosophy: I create training programs with tangible challenges that meet the unique needs of all ages and abilities. I utilize a wide range of equipment and skills to maximize the benefits of each session. I encourage clients to pursue all avenues of health and wellness to achieve sustainable goals. I strive to balance work with fun and variety with specificity in a holistic approach to fitness. Personal training is an opportunity to tap into and sharpen inner abilities for a wealth of lifelong health and I look forward to being your guide along this mind/body adventure.
