80,000 Reasons to Get in Shape
The Student Recreation Center is an 80,000- square-foot facility with a 6,000-square-foot weight room, a 3,000-square-foot area with 14 treadmills, 17 elliptical cycle,
men’s and women’s locker rooms, three multipurpose rooms, four racquetball courts, one squash court and a hardwood gym with four full basketball courts.
Adjacent to the center is the Recreation Outdoor Complex, which houses 10 tennis courts, including a center court with seating for 500, two sand volleyball courts, two basketball courts and a full-sized roller hockey rink. The rink also features backboards that can be converted into two full-length basketball courts.
Surrounding the entire three-quarter-of-an-acre complex is an 8-foot-wide jogging trail. All the facilities are lighted for evening use.
On game days, the Student Recreation Center is transformed into the home arena for the UCR Highlanders’ basketball and volleyball teams and can seat 3,168 fans.
