Certifications and Training

An 8-9 week course led by FitWell Coordinator, Jescelyn Villarreal, designed to guide students through the ACE CPT curriculum and prepare to sit for the ACE CPT Certification exam.

UCR students and SRC members are invited to start the year off right with the Student Recreation Center. Come out to the SRC and meet our Certified Personal Trainers and group fitness instructors! We’ll answer questions, provide a body composition analysis, pushup test, basic nutrition recommendations and free snacks.

OCTOBER 5
Thursday, 5:15pm - 7:15pm

GFIT is geared to the exercise enthusiast with limited to no experience in teaching group exercise classes. This course does not focus on exercise physiology and is not a certification. Its primary purpose is to teach you how to choreograph, cue, and lead all types of group exercise classes safely and effectively. Completion of this course will prepare you for certification and a possible opportunity to become an instructor at the SRC. This 10 week class will take place on Fridays only, but will be rescheduled on weeks with a Friday holiday.

Get ready for an Ab Attack! Engage your core and tone your midsection in honor of the opening of the Pam S Clute, PhD Multi-Purpose Room! Join the FitWell team in celebrating the life of our beloved Ab Attack instructor! Glute Camp will be cancelled during this event.

OCTOBER 16

Learn how to effectively perform the Olympic lifts, the Snatch and Clean and Jerk. Progressively enhance your skills each week. Leave with skills and drills to practice as you work on “perfecting” your technique.

Come dressed up and celebrate Halloween with us at the 3rd Annual Zombie Zumba event! The FitWell Zumba instructors will lead an hour-long cardio dance party and preview some routines from our new class, STRONG by Zumba! Snacks and refreshments will be provided for our patrons! All classes 6:30-8:00pm will be cancelled due to this event.

Become certified in the Barre format with SoulBody Barre! This workshop will teach participants to build choreographed classes using various equipment. Master the most progressive, pre-choreographed, mindfullyintense BARRE program that stays consistent and ahead of the curve!

Participation Policy
You must have a valid UCR ID or current Student Recreation Center membership to obtain personal training.

Clothing Policy
You must wear appropriate workout clothing and nonmarking shoes. No jeans please.

Initial Consultation Policy
Once an initial consultation or session package has been purchased and all forms are complete, the assigned personal trainer will contact you within one week from the date of registration. After three consecutive attempts to schedule a consultation or session with no response from the client, the personal training fee/package will be considered null and void.

Late Policy
You are responsible for being on time for your appointment. Your trainer is only required to wait 10 minutes. If your session begins late, it will only last until the end of the hour that the session was scheduled.

Cancellation Policy
Clients must notify their trainer at least 24 hours in advance to reschedule an appointment. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of the session. There will be NO REFUNDS and NO EXCEPTIONS. Your trainer is also responsible for giving 24-hour notice if they need to cancel or reschedule.

Remaining Sessions Policy
All sessions must be used by the end of the fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). After three consecutive attempts to schedule remaining sessions without a response from the client, all remaining sessions will be considered null and void. At this point the client will no longer be able to access these sessions (regardless of how many are left).

You are required to purchase sessions before you schedule or use them. If you have used all of your sessions and want to continue to be trained, you must purchase more sessions.

There are NO REFUNDS for sessions purchased.

If you feel a personal trainer or other fitness staff does not provide a sufficient level of customer service, please contact the FitWell office at (951) 827-4472.


Group Fitness Classes begin October 2 - December 15

  • No classes on November 10, 23 - 25 (due to holidays).
  • All classes after 6:30pm on Monday, October 30 are cancelled (due to Zombie Zumba).
  • Glute Camp cancelled on Monday, October 16 (due to Ab Attack).
  • Total Body Toning moved from MPR A to MPR B on Saturday, November 18 (due to Homecoming).
  • Yoga moved from MPR C on Monday, November 13 (due to UCR Women's Basketball game).
  • Row N' Tone, Total Body Toning, and STRONG by Zumba cancelled on Thursday, November 16 (due to Turkey Triathlon).
  • Condensed Schedule December 9 - 15: only classes after 4:00pm offered, except for 6:30am Yoga on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
