The UCR Student Recreation Center's Outdoor Excursions Shop has an extensive library of geographical maps and outdoor gear for your next adventure! Students, staff or community members – Rental equipment is available to any UCR student and faculty/staff or community members over the age of 18 with a valid government-issued ID. UCR students must provide a current UCR Student ID number. Students of other UCs may rent at student prices with a current UC Student ID. A client can only rent two like items at a time.

Rental Details

Before heading out on your outdoor activity, please review all rental details below. Rates and policies are subject to change without notice.

Rates & Discounts

When an item is checked out, it is due back to the OE shop by closing on the day it is scheduled to be returned. Because the OE Shop is closed Saturdays and Sundays, we apply a discount on weekend rentals. Students that rent over the weekend (Friday-Monday) are given a 60% discount, while community members are given a 33.3% discount. These discounted weekend rates apply for other days the OE Shop is closed (i.e. holidays/campus closures).

Reservations

Equipment rental reservations can be made in person at the Outdoor Excursions Shop, by email (outdoorexcursions@ucr.edu), or by phone (951-827-5738, ext. 5). Payment for equipment is due at the time of pick up

Late Fees

A late fee (the daily rate x 2) will be charged for each day an item is overdue. Items that are one week overdue – without communication from the renter – are considered lost. A replacement fee and any lost revenue will be assessed.

Refunds

Only cancellations made by OE will result in a full refund. No refunds or credits will be made due to unclaimed/unused/early-return equipment. For more information, email outdoorexcursions@ucr.edu.

Responsibility

The person who checked out rental gear is responsible for each item in their name, based on inventory number. Please see the section on cleaning, damaged, and lost equipment fees

Damage/Replacement

Cleaning fees of $15 minimum will be charged if an item is returned dirty, wet, or in unrentable condition. Damage fees may be assessed. Replacement fees are charged if the damage cannot be repaired or the item is lost.
